Member zakurie pointed out that a rumor from the folks at SpyMac (of iWalk fame) predicts 10GB iPod before the end of March.
It's just a rumor, but a pretty safe bet. Expect a little something else along with the bigger drive.
I doubt the credibility of this rumor for two reasons:
1. I've tried to believe spymac.com multiple times and i have been let down ALOT! spymac just tries to get hits and popularity with stupid rumors, i mean look at the apple sage what truthful person he was
2. I doubt apple is really afraid of the competition because the ipod has adavantages over the stuff comming from rio and creative because for example the ipod still has sex apeal, i've never thought teh stuff from creative or rio was attractive but the ipod is a piece of ***** work white face encased in a chrome back, also ipod is alot simpler to use than the new gear comming out, most users see all those ports and freak out and most likely won't use all of those features, i have no doubt in my mind that if apple wanted to make an advanced mp3 player they would and could have but apple wanted to make it simple, i have taught people how to use my ipod in 15 seconds and they actually understand, i don't think 10 gigs will make it anymore attractive than it is now, it would actually make most ipod owners very upset and apple is very careful about canabalizing itself, so i hope you can understand my rambling
i apologize because it has been a long night of writing essays and i don't really feel like proofreading or punctutating
Before the iPod was announced, I came very close to buying a Archos player--until I started reading comments from users: shoddy workmanship, disk crashes and unacceptably poor customer support for non-francophones were often mentioned. Before I ever consider buying anything from Archos, I want to hear they've switched to a higher quality manufacturer and have started treating their customers better.
Then again, we soon might start hearing a lot of bitching from iPod users who bought their iPod more than three months ago and now can't get them serviced.
I experienced all of the above with my Archos Jukebox. Bought the iPod right when it came out. Love it (of course).
