Not 'til August…

Reader Omar K. sent this in:

"An iPod Updater with support for new features such as Sound Check, Audible, and calendar will be available in early August."

I'm guessing this will be v1.2 or something. Damn..august is miles away...

Reader "Neil" sends in confirmation from the Expo floor:

according to the guys at the apple booth, the firmware will be out … couple of days [in] to the first week in august. the remote looks so much sweeter in person. silver shinny face plat[e] like the back of the iPod, and the clip on the back is white plastic like the front of the iPod. the firewire port cover is a great idea, [wish] my original 5 gigger had it.

And when will AAC support come to iTunes and the iPod?

On a more positive note, the info section on the new iPod says that it now has a one year warranty now.

It's only positive if you buy a new one.

WORD

Was at the expo today. I lookd at new iPods to see what version they were running. It was a 1.2 beta. I did not write down all the specs, but was surprised to see beta SW.

i think they need to get that new version out, itunes 3 isnt interacting very well at all with ipod firmware 1.1. It doesn't auto-launch when i insert my ipod like it use to.

I can tell you that it will be v1.2 that comes out.

How do I know?

I went to www.apple.com.au/ipod shortly after the keynote and it had a button that said "Download iPod Software 1.2" to make sure it wasnt a mistake I refreshed a few times. On clicking the link it takes you to the US Download site however and downloads v1.1

The Link has now dissapeared from the Australian Site

what about showing the clock in the titlebar next to the battery indicator?

get a watch..
